Mesa Chiosetts: In a busy life, people tend to do more exercise and activities on a day or two off. Now it turns out that just one or two days of exercise to complete a week’s worth is just as beneficial and at least as good for the heart.

They are referred to as weekly athletes who concentrate on exercising for one or two days. Now experts have said that this process can also prove to be very useful compared to not exercising. Thus, it can be equally useful in removing stroke, heart disease and heart attack etc.

Experts attribute this to a busy lifestyle. However, now Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) experts have published its details in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA). According to experts, moderate or vigorous exercise of up to 150 minutes a week has many medical benefits. But even doing this full amount of exercise in a day or two can have benefits.

The survey was conducted by Dr. Shan Khursheed, a cardiologist at MGH and his colleagues. In this he has seen the data of more than 89 thousand men. This data was taken from Biobank in the UK. In these, accelerometers were attached to the participants’ wrists. The watch-like device recorded their exercise, activity and movement throughout the week.

Among them, 33 percent were doing less than 150 minutes of moderate or vigorous exercise per week. 42 percent of people were doing 150 minutes of exercise once or twice a day, while 24 percent of people were doing 150 minutes of regular exercise throughout the week.

The study was then refined by isolating all factors. It was found that the risk of heart disease was reduced by 35% among those who exercised daily and by 27% among those who exercised once or twice a week, which is encouraging. Similarly, those who exercised regularly had a 21% lower risk of stroke, and those who exercised vigorously once or twice a week had a 17% lower risk.

So the good news for busy people is that vigorous exercise once or twice a week can also be beneficial.
