New Delhi: India and Sri Lanka have taken an important decision to trade in rupees.
According to foreign media reports, India and Sri Lanka have decided to conduct bilateral trade in Indian rupee under the vision of long-term economic partnership.
The decision was taken at a delegation-level bilateral conference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Hyderabad House, the two countries will enhance digital economic ties.
Five cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries, including a network-to-network agreement between NIPL and ‘LankaPay’ for economic transactions in Sri Lanka.
In the delegation level meeting, it was also decided to lay a petroleum pipeline from India to Sri Lanka and start a passenger ferry service, a bridge between India and Sri Lanka was also considered.
