Last month, a 62-year-old Japanese diplomat was attacked in the US state of Oregon. The woman who attacked has been arrested.
American media reports called it a racist attack against Asian citizens.
Yuzo Yoshioka, the head of the consular section at the Japanese consulate in Portland, USA, was pushed to the ground by a woman, causing her head to split open.
The Japanese diplomat was walking alone on the afternoon of June 17 when the incident occurred. He was taken to hospital but discharged the same day.
The woman who pushed the diplomat is homeless, the diplomat has returned to the office after recovering.
The diplomat told the police officer who arrived at the scene that the woman pushed him unnecessarily.
The officer wrote in his report that the diplomat’s head was bleeding profusely, and he was given medical attention on the spot.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Aressa Robinson, is now in jail.
