Karachi: Under the monsoon system coming from the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains caused waterlogging in many areas of the city, urban flooding occurred in many places in the central district.
According to Express News, after the intense heat and humidity in the morning, light and heavy rain started from the suburbs of the city in the afternoon and spread to the central district.
Central district has been the most affected by the heavy rain, where rain water has accumulated in Sakhi Hassan, UP and Nagan Chowrangi, while urban flooding was also seen in some places, the highest rainfall was recorded in North Karachi at 41.6 mm.
After the heavy rain, several roads along with North Karachi Domint Chowrangi, Power House Chowrangi and Four K Chowrangi were flooded, while the rainwater drains on the sides of Nagan Chowrangi boiled, Shadman 14A drain overflowed and the side wall of the drain also collapsed.
Due to heavy rains and inundation of roads, several motorcycles and vehicles were stranded, causing problems for people going to their offices and homes.
In the suburbs of the city, Gulshan Mimar, Motorway M-Nine, Gadap Town, Superhighway and Gulshan Mimar Scheme 33 also received light to moderate rain.
There was only drizzle and hail at some places, however black clouds continued to prevail over most areas and gusty winds continued to prevail in other areas including University Road and Karachi Airport.
According to the statistics released by the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was 41.6 mm recorded in North Karachi, 16.2 mm in Gulshan Mimar, 2 mm in Gulshan Hadid, Orangi Town, 1.5 mm in Saadi Town, 1.3 mm in University Road.
According to the new forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds are continuously entering the country from the Bay of Bengal, under its influence, there is a possibility of rain and storm in Karachi during July 22-24.
According to the Meteorological Department, the city’s temperature increased by 1.1 degrees compared to the previous day, with the highest temperature recorded at 37.1 degrees Celsius.
