Karachi: The Sindh High Court ordered the Labor Department to implement the orders of Rs 25,000 minimum salary in all departments and to review the reports by calling for reports from various departments.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro heard a petition regarding fixing the minimum monthly salary of sentry workers at Rs 25,000. Time should be given for related proposals.
The sentry workers working in various departments of Sindh government and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board are being paid 17 thousand 5 monthly salary, Sindh government has set a minimum salary of 25 thousand rupees, paying salary less than 25 thousand rupees is basic. There is violation of rights, sentry workers should be provided with all necessary equipment during work, Sindh government should be directed to implement the SOPs made for sentry workers.
The lawyer of the Sindh government stated that the Sindh government had fixed the salary of the laborers at 25 thousand rupees on July 7, 2022.
Sindh government’s lawyer stated that under section 4 of the Minimum Salary Act, 2015, the Sindh government had fixed the wages of workers at Rs 25,000. Implementation will be done.
SOPs regarding safety measures for sanitary workers were submitted by the petitioner, the court directed the Sindh government to review the petitioner’s suggestions.
The court ordered the implementation of the orders to pay the workers a minimum salary of 25 thousand rupees, the court remarked that the minimum salary of sanitary workers in the province should be ensured at 25 thousand rupees.
