Sensitive US military information has been leaking to Mali for 10 years due to a small typographical error, with US officials completely unaware of it.
Millions of sensitive emails from the US military were mistakenly sent to Mali and all because of a small typo, interestingly Mali is a Western American country and an ally of Russia.
According to the Financial Times, the leaked emails contained sensitive information, including high-level diplomatic documents, tax returns, passwords, medical records and travel details.
A glaring error caused this problem, as the US military uses the “MIL” domain, while sending emails it accidentally crossed out the English letter “I” and all the emails went wrong. Keep sending information to the “ML” domain.
In an email sent earlier this year, information was also sent regarding the visit of US Army Chief of Staff General James McCone Valley to Indonesia.
The Pentagon says that steps have been taken to address the issue, last month a Dutch man named Johannes informed the US authorities about the issue through a letter.
