Karachi: IBA Karachi is facing professional and financial irregularities.

IBA Karachi, which is supported by student fees and government funds, is facing nepotism, professional and financial irregularities. These cases are being reported in the marketing and communication department of IBA known as MARCOM and when the head of MARCOM told IBA. In this regard, the documentary evidence obtained by “Express” indicates that the matter started with the awarding of an annual contract of 10 million rupees to a private company providing digital services through a tender, in which the former female head of the Marcom Department, I.B. Later, on the recommendation of the former female head of the MARCOM Department, the contract of the private company was extended without tender, while looking at the technical and legal aspects, some members of the Finance and Planning Committee opposed the extension of the contract, 3 more employees of the same private company. In this way, the above-mentioned private company has established its dominance over the Marketing and Communication Department of IBA, while the Human Resource Department of the Institute of Business Administration itself provides employment to the employees of this private company in IBA and the Procurement Department in this company’s contractor without a contract. When the relevant female head was dismissed as the head of the Marcom department and a teacher of the teaching faculty was assigned the responsibilities of the head of the department, at the same time, a case of theft of a drive containing data records from the computer of an employee working in the Marcom department came to light.

It is interesting to note that, surprisingly, proceedings have been initiated against the new head of MARCOM for awarding a contract to his former private company Co-Digital Marketing, complaining of fraud and pointing out certain irregularities and nepotism in the contract with the private company. First, he was dismissed from the post, and now, after accusing him of harassment, an attempt is being made to put him on the wall, and in order to suppress the issue of extending the contract of Rs.

In this regard, the documents obtained by “Express” indicate that the Executive Director of IBA was regularly informed about the awarding of a contract to a digital agency, certain points included in the contract and the performance of the digital agency. She was an ex-employee of the company while some more people have now become part of Marcom from this company. The performance of the company is unsatisfactory. Under the contract, the company is bound to cover only 3 events in a month and she is being paid 8 lakh rupees per month and 1 crore rupees annually.

However, Director IBA Dr. Ak Barzedi kept working backwards and forwards regarding any investigation on this matter. According to the records obtained from the Finance Department of IBA, 1 crore 65 lakh rupees were paid to this company only in 11 months from February 2022 to December 2022 and also on February 24, 2023, IBA With the approval of the competent authority, a letter of extension in the previous terms and conditions contract was issued to this company by Procurement Head Fahad Javed.

When “Express” contacted Procurement Head Fahad Javed in this regard, Tuan said that “I cannot say anything in this regard, it is a matter of the office. Talk to the official representative. According to IBA, when the head of MARCOM department, who was dismissed due to the detection of irregularities, sought a legal opinion from IBA’s legal department on the contract made with this company, the legal department was given a legal opinion.

According to the legal opinion, the agreement is “purely one-sided” benefiting the private company. Moreover, the agreement is silent on any extension of the contract. It is noteworthy that after the graduation of Ayesha Javed from MARCOM and the assumption of charge by the new head, the issue of theft of data records from the department came to light and the Human Resource Department of IBA started an inquiry in this regard. failed to determine the person responsible and was told in writing that the employee’s computer from which the drive was stolen has a better track record.

On the other hand, after the committee failed to identify the person responsible for the stolen drives, it went beyond its professional limits and accused the head of MARCOM of misbehavior and urged him to behave better with the employees, a senior faculty of IBA. is of the opinion that no committee has the right to come out of its mandate and give an opinion on any other matter.

“Express” contacted Director Human Resource Irfan Qamar in this regard, to which he said, “These things are going on at this time and it will not be premature and correct to say anything at this time.”

“Express” recently contacted Maryam Tawheed, the acting director who took charge of the Marcom department, and she said, “The investigation of the hard drive is still ongoing. There are still committees on these issues. This issue has not been sidelined yet.” .
