Karachi: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh Home Department and the IG on petitions against the detention of MQM London workers under the MPO.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry and Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi heard the petitions against the detention of MQM London workers under the MPO. Petitioner’s counsel Abid Johar Advocate submitted that under the MPO, the workers were arrested for taking out a small rally and detained for 30 days after bail.
He was of the view that the Sindh Home Department issued a notification of one-month detention on July 11, a case was registered against the workers in Zaman Town Police Station, and the Judicial Magistrate South granted bail to all the workers on July 12. The court is requested to suspend the detention notification.
The Sindh High Court issued a notice to the Sindh Home Department and IG Sindh and asked the parties to respond by July 24.
