In Bahawalnagar, the cotton crop has reached the market, but due to non-availability of proper rate of cotton in the market, the farmers have faced severe difficulties.
Bahawalnagar occupies a prominent position in terms of cotton production.
This time, cotton crop has been cultivated on an area of more than 1 million acres in Bahawalnagar district, which has now reached the market.
The crop produced after the use of expensive fertilizers, sprays, seeds and petroleum products are not getting adequate rates in the market, due to which the farmers are facing severe difficulties.
Cotton crop is considered as white gold for the farmers, the farmers meet their expenses throughout the year only from the cotton crop.
This time the government has fixed the rate of cotton at 8500 rupees, but no trader in the market is ready to buy cotton at the rate fixed by the government.
Apart from Bahawalnagar, cotton farmers in various areas including Rajanpur and Nawabshah are also worried.
Farmers have demanded an immediate hike in cotton prices.
