Karachi: The FIA ​​Anti-Corruption Circle has arrested the Pakistan Customs officers who have been missing for a week, who revealed that they were supporting smugglers during the investigation.

According to FIA officials, a case has been registered against the detained accused Tariq Mehmood Oriya and Abbas and they were arrested while trying to leave Islamabad from a private airline.

According to the FIA ​​officials, both the officers were arrested under the mega corruption scandal in customs, the accused along with various customs officers were receiving crores of rupees from the mafia for smuggling.

According to the text of the FIR, the arrest of accused Tariq Mehmood Oriya and Abbas took place at the Jinnah Terminal Airport when both countries were trying to leave Islamabad by a private airline flight. The accused admitted during the investigation that these amounts were to be distributed among the officers assigned to different posts of the customs. The volume of speed money collection is 40 to 50 million rupees, while about 60 million rupees are being collected monthly for facilitating the smuggling of betel nuts.

According to the details, facilities were provided to the smugglers during the delivery and smuggling of the smuggled goods to Karachi in a systematic manner through the land routes of Balochistan. According to the confession of the accused, in 2020, Saqib Saeed was appointed Co-Director of the Trafficking Organization.

According to the authorities, the accused started an organized network of smuggling and deployed their trusted associates and received speed money (bribe) from various smugglers.
