Due to the law and order situation in the province, it is difficult to hold elections, Chief Secretary Punjab

Islamabad: Chief Secretary Punjab has said that the law and order situation is not good, therefore it is difficult to hold elections.

According to Express News, the Chief Secretary Punjab appeared in the meeting of the Election Commission and submitted a reply regarding the possible holding of elections in the province.

In his reply, the Chief Secretary suggested holding the provincial and national assembly elections on the same day, saying that the expenses would double on separate elections and provision of security would also be difficult, while 42 billion rupees would be required to maintain law and order.

He said that the administrative and law enforcement officers are busy during Ramadan, the census is taking place in March, while the provincial government is also facing financial deficit, more than four lakh people are required for the election. The services of Pakistan Army and Rangers are indispensable to meet the shortfall.
