Lahore: Immovable property tax collection system has been digitized in Punjab.
In order to prevent corruption, the Department of Local Government has digitized the immovable property tax collection system while taking steps towards digitization.
According to Local Government Secretary Dr. Irshad Ahmad, there will be an income of 20 billion rupees in terms of tax collection on immovable property through digital system. Tax on immovable property will now be collected through e-stamping.
He said that collection of property tax is being linked to e-stamping to prevent corruption. Under the digital system, the property tax will go directly to the accounts of the respective local governments.
According to the Municipal Secretary, Board of Revenue and PLRA will provide assistance in online collection of tax. Online challan will also be generated on collection of tax. Board of Revenue and PLRA will collect Rs.80 for each transaction. Digital system will eliminate tax evasion. In this regard, the process of revenue collection is being made transparent and impartial.
