Lahore: Expressing indignation at the objection of the prison authorities on the order of Parvez Elahi’s release, the court summoned the IG.
Jail authorities objected to the release of former Punjab Chief Minister and PTI President Pervez Elahi and despite the bail being approved by the court, Pervez Elahi was not released. Jail authorities filed a petition in the Anti-Corruption Court, requesting the court to clarify the conditional order.
The court expressed its anger at the behavior of the jail authorities. Special Judge Anti-Corruption Ali Raza Awan issued a show cause notice to the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Camp Jail while conducting the hearing. Explain why you did not release the accused despite the issuance of a warrant, the court said.
The court issued a show cause notice to the circle anti-corruption officer Rizwan Nawaz and summoned him personally along with the answer. Apart from this, the court also summoned the DIG Prisons. The court made the bail subject to the decision of the Lahore High Court on appeal for physical remand.
