In a local hotel in Lahore, an NGO called Faces of Pakistan gathered youths belonging to different religions. Other religious representatives including former Provincial Human Rights Minister Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Professor Dr. Kalyan Singh Kalyan and Javed William expressed their views on this event.

Speaking to Express News, Saira Butt and Faryal Qureshi representing Muslim youth, Sikh youth Harbjan Singh, Hindu Pandit Rakesh Chand said, “The most important thing for interfaith harmony is that we understand each other’s religion and belief.” Respect and accept others. Interfaith harmony should be included in the educational curriculum. The youth said that we need to stop this way of leaving our own religion and belief and not teasing the religion and belief of others.

Former Provincial Human Rights Minister Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that when the sad incident of desecration of the Holy Quran took place in Sweden, peaceful protests were held throughout Pakistan. Freedom of expression should not be abused. We all should promote peace, security and unity.

Faces Pakistan head Javed William said that recent incidents like the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden are condemnable because such religious incidents have harmed the efforts of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Such provocative action cannot be allowed under the violation of freedom of expression.

A joint declaration was issued by Faces of Pakistan and the representative youth of different religions, the main points of which were to promote peace and unity for economic development and mental development, to start a program of harmony training in madrasas, schools, colleges and universities.
