Washington: US President Joe Biden has said that he believes there is no consensus in NATO on whether Ukraine should join NATO or not.
According to the American Broadcasting Corporation, the above statement of the American President came at a time when he is going to attend the NATO summit in Lithuania, where Ukraine’s membership as well as Sweden will be discussed.
“I think it’s premature to call for a vote on Ukraine joining NATO,” Biden told CNN. There are other conditions that need to be fulfilled and there are some issues like democracy and some related issues.
“I think we have to find another way for Ukraine to qualify to join NATO,” he added. NATO members have a responsibility to defend each other, but Ukraine is currently at war and it may not be the right decision to join NATO under these circumstances.
