A zoo in Toronto, Canada has appealed to visitors to stop showing phone videos to gorillas.
The zoo posted instructions outside the wall of the gorilla section instructing visitors not to show the gorillas pictures or videos on their phones. Zoo management said this also led to inappropriate content being displayed on phone screens. It can also affect gorillas’ relationships and behavior in their families.”
“We haven’t noticed any significant changes in the behavior of the gorillas yet, but officials want to make sure that the animals’ lives are as long as possible,” said Holly Ross, animal behaviorist at the zoo. Stay natural.
“We just want gorillas to be gorillas and when our visitors come to the zoo, we want them to see them in their natural state to connect with them,” he said.
A gorilla named Nasir was born in 2009 and was addicted to watching videos, the zoo said. Inspired by this, if he had taken a unique path, it would have dominated his life.
