Iran seizes oil smuggling ship

Tehran: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized an oil smuggling vessel backed by the US military in the Persian Gulf.

According to Iranian state media, IRGC Commander General Ramzan Zirahi said that the US Navy tried to intervene by acting unprofessionally and dangerously when the ship was seized by the Naval Zone Forces NAD2.

He added that the Americans sent two A-10 surface combat aircraft, one P-8A spy plane, two Hawk C helicopters, one MQ9 autopilot aircraft and US patrol ships to carry out operations.

The commander added that the Americans tried until the last moment to prevent the hijacking of the infiltrator ship, but the vigilance, precision, professional behavior of the IRGC and the might of the Iranian Navy failed.
