Karachi: As part of the Karachi Bachao Tehreek, the victims of Gujjar and Orangi Nala, Mujahid Colony and KCR took out a ‘Ghar Mahavayat Rally’ from the Arts Council to the Karachi Press Club, in which the victims, including women and children, political elites and civil society participated in full. .

Addressing the rally, the leader of Karachi Bachao Tehreek, Fiza Qureshi, said that the Supreme Court had decided that within two years, all the victims would be provided with alternative houses in a place in the city where water, electricity, schools, playgrounds would be provided. Grounds and other facilities of life are available.

He said that the Sindh government has neglected the order to resettle the drain victims and provide them with alternative houses, is this not an insult to the courts?

Leader of Awami Workers Party, Laila Raza, while addressing the victims, said that an independent commission should be established under the leadership of an honest person like former administrator Faheem-ul-Zaman or Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqir, including the victims, so that the victims can be given justice. There should not be any kind of injustice and this process should not suffer from any kind of corruption.

Gujjar Nala victims’ leader Nisar Ahmad urged the government not to try to pick up the victims and throw them out of the city but provide them with houses in their own districts.

Arsalan Anjum, the head of Orangi Nala victims, said that the Sindh government, especially the current mayor of Karachi, was not ready to meet the victims of Orangi, Gujjar, KCR and Mujahid Colony even once, while many attempts were made to contact them.

He said that the government issued two checks for the rent with great difficulty and in this regard neither the correct IDs were registered nor all the victims could get the checks. Now the third and fourth checks have not been received for a long time due to which the victims are very worried.

Nasir Hussain, head of Mujahid Colony victims, said that we demand that checks be issued for rent. The victims also said that the Karachi Bachao Tehreek and the victims of KCR, Gujjar and Orangi Nala and Mujahid Colony will continue their political and legal struggle until each and every victim gets their right.
