At least 9 people were injured in various accidents during rain in Shahdara Town and Azhar Town of Lahore.
According to Rescue 1122, all the injured were shifted to Lahore General Hospital. The victims include 45-year-old Afzal Malik, 35-year-old Sonia Afzal, 36-year-old Ghulam Abbas, 30-year-old Tania Abbas, 7-year-old Kaniz Fatima, 4-year-old Dua Fatima, 18-year-old Sadia, 13-year-old Alia and 13-year-old Amina Pervez.
Apart from this, the total number of deaths due to floods, landslides and collapse of roofs and walls across the country this month has reached 50. Yesterday, at least 6 more deaths were reported in different incidents due to rain in Punjab.
Heavy rains in the provincial capital earlier this week turned critical when water overflowed from Canal Road and started entering low-lying areas.
Water started entering the areas of Mughalpura, Garden Town, Muslim Town Mor, Gulberg and Johar Town. The flow in the canal increased as its level rose due to rainwater.
