America will buy 6 million barrels of crude oil for its emergency reserves, this purchase will take place in October and November.
The US Department of Energy said in its statement that President Joe Biden is working on a strategy to meet the oil shortage.
The statement added that global oil supply has been affected due to the war initiated by Russian President Putin in Ukraine.
The statement said that the department will continue to look for new procurement opportunities depending on the energy market situation.
It should be noted that after Russia’s attack on Ukraine last year, the United States used 180 million barrels of crude oil from its reserves to balance the oil supply in the country.
It should be noted that the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was built in 1975 to store oil in the United States to protect the country’s economy from damage in the event of a disruption in oil supply.
The reserve system is located in four locations including Texas, Louisiana, and the Gulf Coast.
