London: According to a new analysis, the number of lung cancer diagnoses in women this year will exceed the number of diagnoses in men for the first time.
Cancer Research UK has advised women to be vigilant against this deadly lung disease, just like breast cancer.
According to an analysis by the institute, between 2022 and 2024, the number of cases in women will exceed the number of cases in men. This year, 27 thousand 332 cases in women and 27 thousand 172 cases in men are expected to be diagnosed.
Experts predict that the gap in the number of cases between men and women will continue to increase until 2040.
Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related death in the UK. But the symptoms of this disease are usually not apparent until the later stages, when the disease has spread far enough and treatment is less effective.
In the UK, more cases of the disease have been diagnosed in men than in women since record keeping began.
Between 2016 and 2018, an average of 25,404 new cases were diagnosed in men, compared to 23,396 in women.
