Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-level ministerial committee to take measures to release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is imprisoned in America.
Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, met Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. According to the official statement, in the meeting, Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui thanked the Prime Minister for the government’s support in the American visa to meet Aafia and said that by providing the government support in obtaining the visa, you have laid the foundation for Dr. Aafia’s release.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that we fully understand the pain of Dr. Aafia’s family and share their grief. Shahbaz Sharif directed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should provide full assistance to Dr. Fawzia in obtaining a visa for the next meeting with Dr. Aafia.
He said that it is our duty to make efforts for the release of the daughter of the nation, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, while the Prime Minister has formed a high-level ministerial committee to organize and speed up the government’s efforts to release Aafia.
Dr Fauzia expressed special gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the government’s efforts to release Aafia. It should be noted that this was the second meeting of Fauzia Siddiqui with the Prime Minister in the last three months.
