For this reason, the use of mobile phones as well as tablets and smart watches will be banned in classrooms from January 1, 2024.
The Dutch government issued directives to all schools asking all teachers, parents and pupils to agree to the new rules by October.
Dutch Education Minister Robbert Dijkgraaf told parliament that he hoped the initiative would initiate a cultural change and improve the learning process.
