Mark Zuckerberg has announced the launch of a new website similar to Elon Musk’s micro-blogging website Twitter.
The new app is called ‘Threads’ which will go live from Thursday i.e. tomorrow and can be pre-ordered on the Apple Store to get it.
Meta says of Threads that it is a ‘text-based conversation app’ that will be linked to Instagram.
The description of the app on the Apple Store states that ‘Threads are where communities come together to discuss topics that are believed to be trending tomorrow’.
So for now this new app is apparently a free service and there will be no restrictions on how many posts a user can view.
It should be noted that in the last few years there have been several apps similar to Twitter such as Donald Trump’s ‘Truth Social’ and ‘Mastodon’.
Another similar app ‘BlueSky’ also claimed to have seen record traffic on the app after Elon Musk’s move to restrict Twitter usage.
However, Twitter may be most at risk from Meta’s new app ‘Threads’.
