NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg's tenure extended

Brussels: NATO, the 31-nation military alliance, has decided to retain NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for another year.

According to global media reports, Stoltenberg said on his social media website that he is happy and proud of the NATO alliance’s decision to retain his position as Secretary General until October 1, 2024.

He said that this alliance between Europe and North America has ensured our freedom and security for almost 75 years and in today’s dangerous world our alliance has become more important than ever.

Former Norwegian Prime Minister Stoltenberg has held the top post of NATO since 2014. His term was due to expire last year but was extended in February 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
