Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma, who has an extraordinary reputation for underworld films, has revealed that the blockbuster film ‘Satya’ was actually named after the girl he was in love with.
Talking about the film recently, the 61-year-old director from Hyderabad Deccan said that he fell in love with the aforementioned girl when he was studying in college, after which he wanted to impress his beloved Satya.
So I named JD Chakraborty, the lead character in the film, as Satya.
It may be noted that the iconic film Satya, released on 3 July 1998, was declared a failure in its initial days due to the fact that the number of people watching the film at the theaters was very low.
But later Satya became the most successful film of its time and till today people consider it as the epitome of crime and underworld.
Apart from JD Chakraborty, the film also featured Manoj Bajpayee (Bheko Mahatre), Urmila Mitundkar, Paresh Rawal, Aditya Srivastava, Shefali Shah and others.
