NAB got the authority to arrest the accused during the inquiry, the ordinance became law

Islamabad: Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani signed the NAB Amendment Ordinance, after which the National Accountability Bureau will now have the authority to arrest the accused during the investigation.

Under the ordinance, the period of physical remand of NAB accused has been increased from 14 days to 30 days, while after the approval of the ordinance, Chairman NAB will be allowed to issue arrest warrant of the accused for non-cooperation.

According to the Ordinance, the accused of NAB will have to prove his innocence by himself, while he will not be able to approach the court against any inquiry.

Sources say that NAB’s hands were tied in the new law, on the basis of which 6 amendments were made in the law and an ordinance was issued and along with this, NAB was given the authority to arrest the accused on inquiry.
