Toronto: Experts have discovered that the hormone that plays an important role in appetite suppression can now do other things that could lead to the development of hormone therapy for weight loss.
McMaster University professor Gregory Steinberg and his colleagues have taken a new look at the GDF15 hormone. This hormone is known to reduce appetite in type 2 diabetes by taking the drug metformin. But now it can be used as an effective weight loss treatment.
According to a report published in Nature, this hormone can be combined with popular drugs to speed up the process of weight loss. At present, obesity has become a terrible epidemic worldwide. About one billion people suffer from it and obesity itself is causing many diseases.
It is causing obesity, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, blood pressure and diabetes. Experts have shown in mice that GDF15 slows down metabolism during dieting and affects muscle calcium. It turns out that this hormone reduces appetite, but above all, muscle and muscle use energy faster.
Experiments on mice showed that mice lost weight even without calorie restriction because GDF15 was activated. But more research and scientific studies are needed in this regard. Experts believe that this could lead to new effective ways to lose weight.
