Peshawar: The Meteorological Department has predicted that a new series of monsoon rains will start in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from July 3.
DG PDMA has directed the district administration to take precautionary measures in view of thundershowers and strong winds.
PDMA has stated in the post that there is a risk of landslides in the upper districts, so the district administration should ensure the availability of small and heavy machinery.
There is a possibility of urban flooding in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and some areas due to rains, so rain drains should be monitored.
According to the post, ensure that advisory is disseminated to tourists and local communities in sensitive upland areas and that messages are delivered in local languages.
Apart from this, all concerned line departments should be vigilant in maintaining road links, alternate routes should be provided for traffic to avoid road closure. The administration should make special plans for the spell, advance warning to travelers on provincial and national highways in sensitive areas.
Concerned authorities should promptly move people to safe waiting areas, ensure the availability of emergency services personnel in the spill.
Tourists should be informed about the weather situation, tourists should take special precautions while traveling while PDMA and PEOC should be informed about the situation in time.
The rains are likely to continue intermittently till July 8.
