Lords: In the second Test match of the Ashes series, Australia defeated England by 43 runs after a sensational match and took a 0-2 lead in the series.
Chasing Australia’s 371 in the match played at Lord’s, England were bowled out for 327, with all the England batsmen failing to play big innings except Ben Stokes and Ben Duckett.
The captain of the English team, all-rounder Ben Stokes kept the rival bowlers helpless by playing aggressive shorts on all sides of the wicket. Couldn’t cross while Ben Duckett got out for 83 runs.
The last day saw an interesting episode when Jonny Bairstow was run out in dramatic fashion, during which loud noises were raised in the stadium against the umpire’s decision.
In the first innings of the Lord’s Test, Australia scored 427 runs, in response to which the English team managed to score 325 runs, while in the second innings, the Kangaroos were bowled out for 279 runs and gave the rival team a target of 371 runs, Usman Khawaja scored 77 runs. Steve Smith was awarded the man of the match award for his best performance during the match.
