26 people were killed and many others were injured when a bus caught fire on an expressway in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
According to Bhati media, 3 children are also among those who died in the Maharashtra bus accident.
The Maharashtra Police has taken the bus driver and conductor into custody.
The police said that the bus was going from Yavatmal to Pune with 33 passengers on board, out of which 25 died on the spot while one passenger died during treatment, when most of the passengers were sleeping when the bus caught fire.
Maharashtra Police says that the driver of the bus was safe in the incident, 6 to 8 passengers have been seriously injured in the accident and have been shifted to the hospital.
The bus driver says that the bus overturned due to a burst tire, which caused the bus to catch fire.
According to Indian media, a compensation of 5 lakh rupees has been announced for the family of the victims of the bus accident.
