More than 100 people died from the heat wave in Mexico

Nuevo Leon:

More than 100 deaths have occurred in the past two weeks due to extreme heat in Mexico.

According to the foreign news agency, Mexico’s Ministry of Health saw temperatures near 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) in parts of the country in June, causing deaths from heat stroke and dehydration.

The Ministry of Health says that the highest number of deaths, 64, have occurred in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. More than two-thirds of the deaths occurred between June 18 and 24, compared to just one heat-related death during the same period last year, the health ministry said in a temperature report.

In the state of Sonora, Mexico, the temperature was recorded at 49 degrees Celsius this week. Officials have said that the average temperature across Mexico this summer has been 30 to 45 degrees.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Health of Mexico has also indicated the possibility of another heat wave from July 1.
