In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, a 17-year-old Dalit girl committed suicide after being frustrated with the criminal behavior of the police on sexual assault.
According to Indian media, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in Bara Banki district after the police pressured her family to withdraw the case against the neighbor.
A Dalit girl was sexually assaulted by a neighbor, on which the victim’s family filed a case against the neighbor, but the police pressured and threatened the family to withdraw the case and compromise.
The family also said that the girl ended her life because the police failed to arrest the accused who was threatening her to withdraw the case.
