3 SBCA officers arrested for taking extortion from builder, case of terrorism registered

Karachi: Predi police arrested 3 SBCA officers for allegedly extorting, extorting and damaging the project from a local builder and registered a case under terrorism, extortion and other provisions, Senior Building Inspector Umeer said. On the request of the plaintiff Bilal Najib son of Ahsan Najib, Pridi Police filed a charge sheet No. 488/2023 under sections 384, 385, 427/34 Pakistan Penal Court and section 7ATA of terrorism against 4 officers of Sindh Building Control Authority. Senior Building Inspector Umeer Karim, Building Inspector Zafar Spari and Building Inspector Amin were arrested.

According to Bilal Najeeb, on 22nd June 2023, he was present with his labor at his project plot number PR/15/2 MA Jinnah Road, Karachi, when at around 11:30 a.m., 3 persons came, who gave their names as Muhammad Amin, Senior Building Inspector, Zafar Iqbal. Senior Building Inspector and Syed Umeer Karim Senior Building Inspector came and told that they are employees of SBCA and came to check your building.

Bilal Najeeb said that I checked the documents of the project and the accused told me that Syed Owais Hussain Deputy Director SBCA has sent and give us 40 lakh rupees, otherwise they will destroy your project.

According to Bilal Najeeb, during this time, the above-mentioned persons kept calling and asking for extortion. After some time, the extortionists along with their laborers arrived to vandalize the project and started vandalizing it, from which Rs. 15 to 20 lakhs were stolen from my project. According to the plaintiff, I reached my project and forbade him, on which he said while leaving that if the money is not paid, he will cancel the PVC and start vandalizing your project from the basement. Went to the police station to register a case.
