Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has signed a law banning the commercial import of books from Russia.
He has taken this step to further reduce cultural ties between Russia and Ukraine.
Zelensky wrote on Telegram that he approved a law that would also ban the commercial import of books published in Belarus or occupied Ukrainian territories.
Parliament introduced this law last year, under the law, special permission will also be required to import Russian-language books from a third country.
According to the statement issued by President Zelensky’s office, the new law will protect the Ukrainian culture and information sector from anti-Ukrainian Russian propaganda.
The Ukrainian culture minister has thanked the president for passing the law.
