London: A large population in the world suffers from joint pain (arthritis). However, there is a new drug for hand joint pain that can cure this condition.
Arthritis of the hands known as hand osteoarthritis (HO) affects the small joints of the hands. This causes joint pain, spasms and stiffness and makes it difficult to move. In this context, the medicine Telrosol can be used as a treatment for this disease by increasing retinoic acid in the body.
For this, scientists have looked at the gene that causes HO. They collected samples both surgically and experimentally and discovered a molecule called retinoic acid. People who are deficient in retinoic acid have abnormally increased pain in their hands.
Around 40 percent of people around the world suffer from this condition, especially in old age. But so far no effective treatment has been found. That is why surgery, medicine, geneticists, data scientists and biologists have now joined forces to understand it.
Although tilrosol has been used before, there is now clear scientific evidence that it increases arthritis-fighting acid. There are over 8.5 million people with hand pain in the UK alone and millions of people around the world will benefit from this research.
Experts have described this research as in the early stages, and this drug tilrozole can prove to be an effective treatment for hand pain.
