US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden has pleaded guilty to willful tax evasion.
Hunter Biden has pleaded guilty to two federal tax charges, according to international media reports citing a court document.
He also agreed to a separate deal on the firearms charge in an agreement with the Justice Department.
Biden’s attorney confirmed that Hunter will plead guilty to two counts of failing to make tax payments as part of a plea deal.
A separate firearms charge would not be the subject of a plea deal, attorney Christopher Clark added.
A “pretrial diversion” is usually an agreement between defendants and prosecutors that allows them to stay open rather than go to jail.
“I know Hunter believes it’s important to take responsibility for the mistakes he’s made in his life and he’s looking forward to moving forward with this case,” the lawyer said.
The deal is expected to end years of federal investigations into Hunter Biden’s personal and professional affairs.
