Karachi: A world-class multi-purpose sports complex has been prepared at the famous Kukri Ground in the ancient area of Karachi’s Lyari. People’s Party Chairman and Federal Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto will inaugurate this complex today.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui has described the sports complex as a beautiful gift for the people of Lyari. Bilawal Bhutto Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, spread over four and a half acres at Kukri Ground, will provide various sports facilities to the residents of the area.
A world-class astro-turf football ground, boxing arena, judo-karate, basketball, table tennis courts have been built in the ground at a cost of seven crore rupees. The state-of-the-art gymnasium, jogging track, library, rooftop cafeteria and indoor parking area are exemplary in their beauty.
The Karate Hall is named after Benazir Bhutto while the Boxing Arena is named after Ustad Muhammad Ali Kambrani. The project, which started at a cost of 80 crores, has incurred expenses of about one and a half billion rupees.
Meanwhile, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab made a detailed visit to the sports complex on Tuesday night and reviewed other arrangements including the opening ceremony. Talking to Reputa Express on this occasion, Mayor Karachi said that the sports complex built on the ancient Kukri ground is a beautiful gift from the People’s Party government to the people of Lyari, thanks to the facilities available here to the youth of Lyari, which is known for sports. Opportunities will be available to showcase talents.
It should be noted that the sports complex is being inaugurated at the wedding venue of Ms. Benazar Bhutto Shaheed on her wedding day itself.
