Electricity is likely to be expensive for electricity distribution companies and K-electric consumers.
Electricity is likely to cost Rs 2.5 paise per unit for consumers of state-owned electricity companies, while electricity may cost Rs. 1.49 paise per unit for K-Electric customers.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) and K Electric have filed separate applications, seeking to increase the price of electricity in the context of the May fuel adjustment.
The Nepra Authority will hear the applications on July 5.
According to the CPPA, 11.95 billion 43 lakh units of electricity were generated in May, 26.96% from water and 16.78% from coal.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency said 1.96 percent of electricity was generated from furnace oil, 10.35 percent from indigenous gas, 24.33 percent from imported LNG and 12.56 percent from nuclear fuel.
