New Delhi: Indian police have arrested two accused after a video of a Muslim man being beaten and forced to chant Hindu slogans in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahr district went viral on social media.
Suspected of stealing a mobile phone, three criminals beat, harassed and forced the victim to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’, India Today said, adding that the suspects also recorded a video of the entire incident on June 13. .
According to an India Today report, “The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the police after which the accused were arrested. The complaint filed said the victim, identified as Sahil, was standing at the bus stand when three youths came, forced him on his bike and took him to a secluded area.
According to the complainant, the accused then started asking him questions about the mobile theft, which Sahil said he was oblivious to, after which the accused tied Sahil to a tree, beat him up. , shaved his head and forced him to chant Jai Shri Ram. He also recorded a video of the beach which he later shared on social media platforms.
The report stated that when the victim approached the police, the police refused to take action and arrested him. Later, the victim’s parents lodged their complaint with ASPSN Tiwari, after which the police started an inquiry and arrested the accused.
