Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan, the uncrowned king of Bollywood film industry, has given many blockbusters in his career, out of which the success of the film ‘Don’ is everlasting and the remake of the film starring Shahrukh and also The film proved to be one of the most successful films.
Few people know that the decade’s box office hit Don, released in 1978, was made by debt-ridden filmmaker Nariman Irani to pay off his debt. For Nariman Irani, who was surrounded by financial troubles, the film Don could have been the solution to all his problems.
Nariman Irani’s film ‘Zindagi Zindagi’ failed miserably and he was in debt of Rs.12 lakhs.
Keeping this in mind, filmmaker Nariman Irani focused on the film and chose the best in the selection of actors, dialogues and songs. Great location, suspenseful and action-packed film with a hint of romance.
This is the reason why this film has not been erased from the minds and hearts of the fans. Almost half a century later, the film’s songs and dialogues are still popular. The film did brilliant and more than expected business.
Sadly, however, filmmaker Nariman Irani Dunya was not around to see the success of the film and pay off his debts.
Nariman Irani, the producer of this film, which had a business of 7 crores at that time, died in a traffic accident a few days before the completion of the film.
