Terrorist attack on Ugandan school, 41 people including students were killed

Kampala: Militants affiliated with the terrorist organization Daesh have attacked a school in Kasi district of Mapundwe town, killing 41 people.

Rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), who have been waging attacks from their bases in eastern Republic of Congo for years, attacked the secondary school, international media reported, citing local police.

Mapundwe mayor Sylvest Mpuze said the dead included 38 students, a guard and two members of the local community who were shot outside the school.

The mayor also said that when the insurgents set fire to the school, several students were burnt to death while others were shot or stabbed to death.

The school, which is private and based on the co-education system, is located about 1.2 miles from the DR Congo border.
