Peshawar: Senior Superintendent of Police Sonia Shamroz Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been nominated for an award by the International Association of Women Police for her excellent policing and valuable services to prevent violence against women.
Sonia Shamrose will be the first Asian and second Muslim woman to receive the Police Officer of the Year award in its 60-year history.
He has rendered valuable services in reducing the trend of violence and suicide against women in Chitral. Sonia Shamrose’s achievement of establishing Women’s Desk for Inheritance Rights of Women in Chitral is also recognized globally, Sonia Shamrose has also received Chevening Fellowship for human rights and better policing in UK.
Talking to Express Tribune, Sonia Shamroz said that it is an honor for me and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. The establishment of a women’s desk in Chitral to work on women’s rights in Chitral district of the province, to provide legal assistance to women, to reduce the difficulties of women who are victims of domestic disputes and to help women who are victims of poverty and local conflicts and outdated traditions is a good initiative. Was nominated for a global award for these services.
