Lahore: A late-night firing incident took place at the house of former Punjab Governor Latif Khosa, in which his driver was injured.
As soon as the incident was reported, SP Cantt Owais Shafiq reached the spot, where the police collected the evidence. According to the initial report of the incident, 7 shots were fired at the house of Latif Khosa. Pistols and rifles were used in the firing. The bullets hit the door of the house and the car parked in the garage, while one bullet hit the leg of Javed, the driver in the garage.
According to the police, the injured driver Javed has been shifted to the hospital for medical assistance. To identify the attackers, help is being taken from the CCTV footage, which will make it clear whether the attackers were in a car or on a motorcycle. The statement of the injured driver will be taken at the hospital for further investigation.
Former Punjab Governor Latif Khosa said that unknown persons fired at my house, in which the driver was injured. Later, senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan also reached the residence there. Latif Khosa said that till 7 o’clock our convention was going on, in which the supremacy of the constitution and military courts were discussed. The judicial system was discussed. I said in the speech that Pakistan has been made an unconstitutional land.
He further said that I said that an unconstitutional government has been established in 2 provinces. The way slogans are raised outside the Supreme Court is insulting. There was a lot of applause, but here there were shouts. I was listening to a client’s case at home. There was a sound of firing, my driver came in and said that he was on fire. When he went outside, there were holes in the door. The car caught fire, Kalashnikov was fired.
Latif Khosa said that lawyers’ movement cannot be weakened by such tactics. We stand behind the Chief Justice. Such tactics will do nothing. Women have been put in jails. A party has been sidelined. Power is being grossly abused. Such a period has not been seen in history. There was enthusiasm in my speech. I told the police officers that IG Punjab is very domineering and holds press conferences every day. I said that I will file a case if the IG comes. If the police want, no one can escape from them. My son got fire 4 months ago. In a city like Lahore, the accused are not caught. This is the defense, this is the red zone of Lahore. I speak of the supremacy of the Constitution. This PDM is also all inclusive. Nothing beyond the law will be allowed.
On this occasion, Aitzaz Ahsan said that the IG and DIG should conduct an inclusive investigation in the May 9 incident. What is the reason that the people who were present in Jinnah House, the police and the army did not arrest them on the spot. There is strange geo-fencing, shopkeepers and innocent people are picked up. All this is the work of glue-bits. Someone tell the army chief that military courts are illegal. They understand that lawyers will be afraid of such intimidation incidents. We strongly condemn this incident.
