Fat Chinese social media activist dies during weight loss ‘challenge’

Beijing: A 21-year-old social media activist in China died while trying to meet a 90 kg weight loss ‘challenge camp’ goal.

According to the New York Post, China’s leading social media activist joined a weight-loss challenge camp in his home province of Shaanxi that helped participants lose 90 kg (200 pounds) to lose weight.

Chinese social media influencer ‘Kui Hua’ weighed 187 kg. He had uploaded more than 100 videos of the camp. In which I used to inform about my daily routine. This includes high-intensity cardio, and strenuous muscle-strengthening exercises such as battle ropes, and weightlifting.

He had only been in the camp for a few months when one day he suddenly fell ill. He was taken to the hospital but could not survive. At present, the cause of death has not yet been determined, but her family members said that she was very tired and exhausted in the camp.

According to a report by Shanghai Morning News, the social media influencer was doing intense workouts at the camp. She ate very little food and was subsisting only on a vegetable or protein diet. She was also doing vigorous exercise for two hours in the morning and evening throughout the day.

The social media activist’s parents shared the news of the death on their daughter’s account and wrote, “Thank you all for your support and love.” Our daughter has gone to a better place in the world. We hope that people will not be misled by the malicious words of a few, which can hurt parents and families.

The fitness enthusiast claimed that “Kui Hua” had lost 80 pounds in just 6 months. His death has sparked a debate on Chinese social media. In which many people described the weight loss challenge camp as stressful and causing people to die.

It should be noted that according to the 2020 Report on the Status of Nutrition and Chronic Diseases in China, more than half of the country’s adults are overweight and obese.
