Jamaat-e-Islami's letter to the Election Commission to re-run the election of Mayor Karachi

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner to re-run the mayoral election.

According to the letter written to the Chief Election Commissioner, the armed forces of the Sindh government abducted 29 members of PTI and prevented them from voting, so the Election Commission should annul this fraudulent process and issue a new schedule.

The letter said that the main objective of the Election Commission of Pakistan is to conduct fair and transparent elections, but the Election Commission has completely failed to conduct fair and transparent elections. At every opportunity, we informed the Election Commission through letters about the unconstitutional and undemocratic actions of the Sindh government, but the Election Commission remained a silent spectator as always.

Jamaat-e-Islami added in the letter that on the occasion of the election of the mayor, the doors of the hall were locked and 29 PTI members were forcibly abducted from their homes by their elite force. It should have happened that the attendance would have been completed and then the process of electing the mayor would have started, but unfortunately it could not be done.

According to the spokesperson, the Election Commission did not play its role and the mandate was ruthlessly killed, the majority was converted into a minority. The results of a mandate grab will not go well in favor of the city and the country.

It should be noted that the nominated candidate of People’s Party Murtaza Wahab has become the mayor of Karachi by getting 173 votes while his opponent Hafiz Naeemur Rehman of Jamaat-e-Islami got 161 votes.
