Islamabad: The IMF has strongly objected to the government’s proposals in the budget presented for the new financial year.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that the government’s budget proposals have missed an opportunity to widen the tax net.
IMF representative in Pakistan Esterprez further said that the resources for the Benazir Income Support Program have been reduced. Apart from this, the IMF has declared the new tax amnesty scheme as inconsistent with the terms of the loan program.
The IMF says it is ready to work with the government to improve the budget before it is approved.
