Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Geng has sent a message to his American counterpart, Anthony Blanken, that Washington should stop interfering in their domestic affairs and respect China’s interests.
The two ministers had a telephone conversation ahead of the US Secretary of State’s proposed visit to China on Sunday.
Chen Gang said that with the beginning of this year, China-US relations have faced new difficulties and challenges.
He said that it is clear who is responsible for this, China has always viewed relations with the United States from the perspective of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and cooperation, this principle has been presented by President Xi Jinping.
The US Secretary of State said on Twitter that he discussed efforts to keep channels of communication open with his Chinese counterpart, as well as bilateral and global issues.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Anthony Blanken made it clear that the US will continue to raise issues at the diplomatic level and identify areas of cooperation.
It should be noted that Anthony Blanken will visit China on Sunday, which will be the first visit of the US Secretary of State to China since October 2018.
