Lahore: The police has dismissed the names of 26 people arrested in the May 9 incidents and the attack on Jinnah House as innocent.
According to the police, during the investigation of the main case of the attack on Jinnah House, 25 accused were discharged without identification after an identification parade. Police further said that a total of 296 persons were arrested in the investigation of the case.
Police spokesman said that 184 of the accused have been identified and the sticks, pistols and petrol bombs used during the attack have been sent to the forensic lab.
He said that the forensic reports will be made part of the investigation challan on receipt, iron rod used by miscreants and incendiary materials were also recovered.
On the other hand, the police say that the process of identification of 3 thousand 280 suspects involved in the incidents of May 9 in five cities of Punjab including Lahore has been completed, 52 of them have been named in various cases before.
According to the police, 1767 unknown persons were identified by placing them in B category and then they were arrested. Cases of terrorism have been registered against the accused.
