Finance Ministry officials have said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed dissatisfaction over the upcoming budget.
While briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Finance Ministry officials said that the IMF has expressed concerns over the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax target.
Officials say that the IMF has termed the FBR’s tax collection efforts as inadequate and measures to increase the tax net are also inadequate.
Finance Ministry officials said that the IMF has asked Pakistan to take measures to increase tax collections.
According to sources, the IMF has also expressed concerns over the overall budget framework.
